I started doing my caring role at the age of 8 as my mum suffers from mental health problems and is registered blind. I really don’t mind caring apart from it can get really stressful from time to time. Being a carer hasn’t really affected school but they didn’t know I was a young carer until they had seen me on BBC news. I think there should be more awareness in schools about young carers and helping them. But I just got my GCSE results and am going into college in September of this year. I’m really excited I’m going to be studying Health and Social care which the caring role inspired me to do. I really want to become a nurse who specialises in trauma and orthopaedics in the Hospital. I tore the cartilage in my knee and received great care so I want to be great like they were. My mum is really proud and I’m so excited to be a nurse.
